Verstehe.
You can connect a 5K monitor to the Surface Book 2. However, the Microsoft driver for Intel Graphics does not allow 5K. You will need to go to Intel and download their graphics driver.
To install the Intel graphics driver, you will need to extract the Intel driver files to a folder. Then go into the Windows Device Manager and update the graphics driver by browsing Intel driver files. I don't think the Surface Win 10 will allow you to install the Intel driver executable file.
The built-in Nvidia graphics card is only used to render graphics on the Surface Book 2 screen and not a connected monitor. Therefore, the Nvidia graphics card cannot be used to drive a 2nd or 3rd monitor.
Also, a quick note, when a major Microsoft Win 10 release is installed on the Surface Book 2, it could overwrite the Intel graphics driver with the Microsoft version. You may need to re-install the Intel version again if you lose the 5K resolution option.
