@sluice
Paraphrased transcript (ACSS - Apple Care Support Specialist, ME - Me):
ACSS: "Since your G5 is out of warranty, there will be a charge to repair it should anything need to be replaced."
ME: "Whoa! I purchased the Apple Care Protection Plan! So my warranty was extended to three years!"
ACSS: "No, I'm sorry sir, but the Apple Care Protection Plan is solely for technical support and phone service and does not cover physical repairs."
ME: "WHAT?!! I'm sorry, but this is the first I've heard of this. I was always under the impression that it included everything, especially repairs."
ACSS: "No sir, I'm sorry. If you like I can send you a copy of the AppleCare Protection Plan Service Agreement. Would you like that?"
ME: "Yes, but are you sure about this?"
ACSS: "Yes, but if you like I can also connect you to a Service Agreement specialist if you have any further questions about your AppleCare Protection Plan. Do you have your original Apple Care Protection Plan package with the terms and conditions handy?"
ME: "Yes, as a matter of fact, I do - hold on a second"
ACSS: "Oh, hold on please, I'll be right back."
ME: "Okay." I find my original AppleCare Protection Plan package, find the clear writing explaining the coverage. Then I go to the Apple.com website and follow the AppleCare Protection Plan links to what is covered. BOTH clearly state that it extends the warranty period from 1 year to 3 years.
ACSS: "Thanks for holding, I'm sorry, there was some confusion here in the call center about this, apparently your plan covers the hardware."
ME: "Excuse me, but since when has there been ANY plan that does NOT cover the hardware?"
ACSS: "I'm sorry, if you'd like you can speak to an AppleCare service agreement specialist about this..."
