INSTRUCTIONS TO STOP ADOBE FROM CHECKlNG YOUR SERIAL AND DE-ACTIVATING IT
You need to do this even if you are using Little Snitch. THIS IS NOT OPTIONAL FOR ANYONE. This method is for any CS4 product you have installed. Please follow the instructions step by step. Re-read carefully if you're not sure.
It's pretty straight forward but you must follow them exactly as stated. Before the instructions I'm just going to explain what exactly will be happening:
You will be opening a file that is created after you've run any CS4 app. This is a hidden file and you need special permission to open it. With a special terminal command, the file will open automatically in TextEdit. You will add a few lines of text to the file, save and close. That's it. Pretty simple and totally not scary, huh? Ok so let's get to it:
1) Disconnect from internet.
2) Install CS 4
3) Run Photoshop, enter your serial
4) Open Terminal (found in Applications/Utilities/). In the terminal window, paste in:
sudo /Applications/TextEdit.app/Contents/MacOS/TextEdit /etc/hosts
5) Hit return and type in your admin password.
6) A file will automatically open in TextEdit. In TextEdit, at the bottom of the document, hit return and paste in the following
127.0.0.1 activate.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 practivate.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 ereg.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 activate.wip3.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 wip3.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 3dns-3.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 3dns-2.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 adobe-dns.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 adobe-dns-2.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 adobe-dns-3.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 ereg.wip3.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 activate-sea.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 wwis-dubc1-vip60.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 activate-sjc0.adobe.com
7) Save the file. Do NOT do a "Save As". Close the file.
8) Reconnect Internet.
