Eine für die Datensicherung (Backup), denn nichts anderes hat da drauf zu suchen und dann die zweite zum Spielen (will heißen, neues System installieren und den Rechner davon booten) oder was auch immer.

So. ich hatte letzte Woche wenig Zeit, aber ich habe den Mac im abgesicherten Modus starten können und alle wichtigen Dateien sind gesichert. Jetzt würde ich bloß noch gerne den Mac formatieren, doch leider geht das nicht. Im abgesicherten Modus kann die Festplatte nicht gelöscht werden und auch das starten von der CD verläuft sehr fehlerhaft. Gibt es noch weitere Möglichkeiten den Mac zu löschen?

Du kannst die Platte nicht löschen wenn darauf das System läuft. Hast Du jetzt ein ™-Backup gemacht

Das Menü, das eigentlich erscheinen soll, wird bereits fehlerhaft dargestellt. Wenn ich dann versuche auf "Weiter" zu klicken, passiert auch nach Stunden nichts.

Hast Du jetzt ein ™-Backup gemacht oder nur Daten kopiert?

Warum kein TM-Backup? Dieses wäre startfähig und Du könntest von da aus die interne Platte löschen und Dein OSX samt Backup einspielen.

Ich hab das noch nie gemacht und wollte einfach kein Risiko eingehen, dass irgendwas vergessen wird

Meine Idee war jetzt einfach, den Mac mit CMD-R zu starten und die Festplatte zu löschen. Mach das Sinn oder mach ich da was falsch?

Wenn das funktioniert, mach es so. Beim TM-Backup sind halt alle Programme, Daten und Einstellungen wieder da.

Wieso hat noch niemand vorgeschlagen, dass der TE einfach OS X neuinstalliert ohne die Festplatte zu löschen?

Das wäre nach einer Datensicherung der erste Schritt, den man ohne viel Aufwand probieren kann.

Hat leider auch nicht funktioniert. Und nachdem ich nun die Festplatte gelöscht habe UND OS X neu installiert habe, funktioniert der Mac immer noch nicht. Er bleibt an der selben Stelle wie vorher stehen.

Der iMac ist vom Juni 2010, hat Mavericks installiert und startet noch im abgesicherten Modus.

mach mal einen Start im verbose mode (cmd-v) und schau wo er hängen bleibt.

Ich tippe jetzt mal auf defekte Grafikkarte. Hattest Du vor dem Hänger irgendwelche Artefakte?

da kann man wenig lesen. Im abgesicherten Modus kannst Du mit Konsole.app das system.log einsehen und den Text markieren und mit copy/paste hier einfügen (Uhrzeit merken oder vor dem verbose start löschen)
