Bevor ich mich gleich wieder den Stones zuwende (das Livelicks-Album gefällt mir mit seiner Blueslastigkeit sehr gut! Ich mochte ja auch das letzte Album "blue & lonesome" sehr gern.) erst noch einmal das hier:



Die Nummer perlt einfach! Schwedisches Pop-Songwritertum at it's best. Dazu mag ich die Geschichte hinter den Lyrics. Zwar schreien viele, dass Ghost Satanisten sind (Blödsinn, das Gehabe gehört zur Show - Sabbath waren auch keine). Auf YT hat das jemand recht gut zusammengefasst, worum es bei der Nummer geht:

So this song is actually about a man named Tony Alamo. An evangelical Christian who started a cult. After his wife died it is rumored things got much worse inside the cult. He beat children and made them work adult jobs. Eventually, he even took several child brides. The glasses the singer, papa, is wearing is in reference to the glasses tony wore. He became infamous for scamming politicians, celebrities, and of course his followers. Tax evasion and several other crimes landed him with a sentence of over 100 years in prison. He died there behind the black bars of the prison. I doubt he ever saw the bars of the pearly gates he preached about though. He referenced the government as the devil and that the devil was trying to lock him away and that it was the devil that was against him. He told members of his cult that those who left died and went to hell. They saw him as their all-knowing father and a holy gateway. In truth, he was the real devil. Ghost is very much about pointing out the poison of religion and how corrupted people have used it to their own advantage.

Aber auch ohne diese Geschichte... Harmonien kann er, der Herr Forge...
