ssh from terminal? Different from PuttY?

Hi there,

i tried to connect to another machine via ssh from the terminal.
No success...

Before i received the login promt from the remote machine, i got kicked out.
I started up my Windows VM and installed PuttY....
A snap... i entered the machine name and here i go... the login prompt showed up immediately....

What happens here? What did i do wrong? What does PuttY do that i am missing?

Do you get any error message?
You can try ssh in verbose mode using -vvv

Maybe there is something blocking you and prevents outgoing ssh connections. What does 'sudo ipfw list' say?
