Ident2 located here:
http://home.cogeco.ca/~seann/ident2/Ident2.dmg
Installation Instructions:
Step 1: Download the Ident2.dmg file.
Step 2: Mount the Disk Image.
Step 3: Double click on the Package file.
Step 4: Click through until it asks you to restart.
Note:
You should not need to restart. However, if you are running into problems, try restarting.
A program may already be bound to port 113, restarting should elevate this.
The Ident2.pkg should stop any previous versions and start up.
If you do not think Ident2 is running simply open up a terminal window and type the following:
ps -awux | grep -i ident2
It should return:
nobody 173 0.0 0.2 18104 600 ?? Ss 5:58PM 0:00.00 /usr/sbin/ident2 -r
Note:
Some IRC servers cache ident responses.
You may think Ident is not working because it does not show up in your WHOIS. Try a different server of the same family.
Affected files:
/usr/sbin/ident2
Directory Created:
/System/Library/StartUpItems/Ident2
