Hallo Zusammen

Seit Monaten schlage ich mich mit einer nervigen Sache rum, hatte das auch hier schon mal gepostet, aber leider half alles nix:

- iMac Retina 5K, 27", Ende 2015
- 16GB RAM
- 1TB SATA HD
- Mojave 10.14

Der iMac ist in manchen Dingen "komisch" langsam. Z.B. Wenn ich einen Ordner oder eine Datei im Finder umbenennen will, reicht es bei meinem anderen iMac (habe nochmals den genau gleichen iMac, dort tritt das Problem nicht auf) kurz auf den Namen des Ordners/der Date zu klicken und sofort wird es blau und ich kann den Namen ändern. Bei dem "Problem-Mac" dauert es ewig (oder es funktioniert gar nicht), sondern ich muss über das Menü "umbenennen" gehen und selbst dann dauert es rund 5 sekunden bis ich den Namen ändern kann. Mein Gefühl ist es, dass der iMac in allem ein wenig langsam reagiert im Vergleich zu dem anderen, sehr viel langsamer.

Das hört sich nach Kleinigkeiten an, nervt aber ungemein mit der Zeit.

Das Problem tritt selbst nach einer kompletten Neuinstallation und Formatierung der Platte auf.

Hat da jemand eine Idee was das sein könnte?

HDD raus und gleich eine SSD rein.

Dem schließe ich mich an. Mach mal einen SMART-Test, zum Beispiel mit https://www.volitans-software.com/apps/smart-utility/ . Aktuelles Betriebssystem mit alter HDD ist aber auch ohne Defekt nicht mehr wirklich zeitgemäß.

Ansonsten können wir auch gerne mal nach softwareseitigen Problemen schauen:

zusammenpasst. Das ist weit entfernt von 12GB. Hast du VMs/Docker am laufen?

Die Sachen unter Performance sehen nicht komplett Bescheiden aus für eine HDD (die hier ja noch angepriesen wird als gutes Ding im Jahre 2018).

Guter Einwand. Durch den Swap kannst du den Rechner mit klassischer HDD natürlich vergessen.

Dein Arbeitsspeicher ist so voll, dass er quasi überläuft. Was mehr gebraucht wird als da ist wird über die Festplatte geregelt. Die ist natürlich viel zu langsam dafür. Und das bremst den ganzen Rechner. Du musst mal in der Aktivitätsanzeige gucken, was so viel Arbeitsspeicher braucht, und entsprechend schließen.

Habe da mal geschaut, is schon ne Menge. Also 13GB braucht. Meint Ihr das Problem wäre gelöst wenn ich auf 32GB aufrüste.

By the way: Das Problem tritt auch nach einem Neustart auf, wenn ich sonst NIX geöffnet habe und der RAM auch fast nicht gebraucht wird.

Zum Vergrößern anklicken....
Dann musst du dich halt etwas beschränken in der Zahl der gleichzeitig genutzten Software. Oder eben aufrüsten. Eine SSD würde übrigens auch hier helfen, weil diese viel schneller die Auslagerungen bedienen kann.
