macOS Mojave sehr langsam

Hallo zusammen,

ich habe seit etwa 1,5 Jahren einen Mac. Leider ist dieser bereits seit sehr langsamer Zeit wirklich unglaublich langsam. Fast nach jedem Klick ist das bunte Rädchen zu sehen. Egal ob es ums Öffnen eines Tabs im Safari, dem Mail lesen o.Ä. geht. Leider habe ich absolut keine Ahnung, was ich unternehmen kann. Ich weiß lediglich, dass das nicht Normalzustand ist, denn beim MacBook meiner Schwester läuft einfach alles wunderbar flüssig.

Ja, hier ist keine SSD im Mac drin, aber dennoch sollte doch eine normale Nutzung möglich sein, oder?

Habt ihr eine Idee, was ich hier machen kann, damit der Mac wieder nutzbar ist? Wo kann ich ansetzen?

Blind geraten würde ich auf Adware tippen. Du könntest Dir Malwarebytes laden und das System mal überprüfen lassen

ich würde auch die HDD gegen eine SSD tauschen, die aktuellen Betriebssyteme von Apple sind auf SSDs Optmiert, ab Sierra ist das der Fall.

Hmm, ja, das war mein Gedanke auch, aber geht das bei diesem Modell überhaupt?

Bzgl. der SSD Optimierung:
Spielst du damit auf APFS an oder? Darüber hatte ich auch schon gelesen, aber gehofft, dass der PC doch zumindest normal nutzbar sein sollte, ohne SSD-Einbau, falls der überhaupt möglich ist. Wo kann ich denn sehen, ob mein MAC überhaupt mit APFS formatiert ist?

Du kannst eine externe SSD an den Rechner anschliessen und davon booten. Wie alt genau ist dein Modell eigentlich? Also welche Modellreihe ist dein Gerät? Schau mal in "über diesem Mac" nach.

Vergiss das. Also ein iMac von 2015. Nun, dann würde ich die externe Methode bevorzugen. Eine Samsung T5 mit 512GB oder 1TB ist ja nicht mehr so teuer, sehr klein, und lässt sich einfach mit Klettklebeband hinten am Fuss befestigen.

Verteufelt doch nicht die HDD. Unbenutzbar langsam darf auch ne Platte nicht sein.

HDs sind für MacOS-Versionen ab High Sierra absolut unbrauchbar. Klar, es geht, aber es ist einfach langsam im Vergleich zu einer SSD. Speziell wenn diese auch noch in APFS zwangsformatiert werden.

Richtig, aber es ist nicht so dass jeder Klick im Finder mit 1 Sekunde Warte-rädchen belohnt wird. Denke das ist das Problem.

Natürlich sollte niemand mehr heute eine Drehende Platte fürs System haben, aber unbenutzbar darfs nicht sein...

Ja, eine SSD ist schneller als eine HDD. Bei jedem Thema, in dem jemand sein Rechner zu langsam vorkommt gleich nach einer SSD zu schreien ist aber doch sehr sehr kurz gesprungen und nichts anderes als die „throw money on it“-Methode, ohne auch nur einen einzigen Gedanken daran zu verschwenden ob es vielleicht ein Softwareproblem gibt. Schade, sehr schade!

ich hab alle möglichen Testsysteme auf 2,5" Platten die ich auch mal mit USB 2.0 boote.

Selbst das mit 40 Mb/sec ist benutzbar. Träge, aber benutzbar. Selbst Catalina mit APFS.

Die Festplatte ist APFS-formatiert. Hat nicht vor kurzem der Entwickler von CCC gesagt, dass das für SSD‘s optimierte APFS Festplatten verlangsamt?

Habe hier eine interne 1TB-HDD, APFS auf MacBook Pro mid2012. Läuft schnell und flüssig mit Catalina.

Nichts wirklich Auffälliges. Wobei auch diesmal keine Smart Prüfung zu sehen ist Mal einen neuen User machen und damit testen.

Doch - IMHO: 18 Tage up time und >4GB Swap, auf einer HDD (!!).
Kurzum: Viel zu wenig RAM für das, was gemacht wird bzw. wie es gemacht wird und/oder eben die falsche Speichertechnologie.
Ich empfehle an dieser Stelle: iMac aufmachen (lassen), RAM auf 16 oder 32GB hochzurüsten und eine SSD anstelle der HDD zu verbauen; mindestens aber die SSD, sollte der RAM bei häufigerem "leeren" doch reichen.

Bei meinem iMac führte neulich eine hohe Temperatur zu dieser allgemeinen Langsamkeit.

Abkühlung hat geholfen.
