RoR mysql gem installieren, mysql auf ei em anderen server

Guten Tag Forum,

versuche gerade das "mysql"-Gem zu installieren. Muss die MySQL lokal vorhanden sein? Meine Mysql ist nicht auf dem localhost vorhanden, ist dies zwingend erforderlich?

Hier mein Aufruf und die Fehlermeldung:

$ sudo gem install mysql
