Hallo,

seit ca. 10 Tagen läuft der Lüfter vom iMac mit Big Sur oft an und ist dann doch deutlich zu hören, was ich als nervig empfinde, weil man sonst vom Mac ja gar nichts hört. Zunächst dachte ich, das käme von den Temperaturen. Doch ist es jetzt seit zwei Tagen recht kühl im Raum, und er dreht trotzdem auf. Besonders bei Seiten wie Facebook. Liegt das jetzt an der Grafikkarte, Fusion Drive oder wodurch kommt der jetzt ständig zum Einsatz?

Habe eine App gefunden namens "Mac Fan Control", aber mit den Einstellungen kenne ich mich da nicht so ganz aus, und die App muß dann doch dauernd im Hintergrund laufen oder? Gibt es eine andere Lösung?

Ein Fusion Drive hat eine HDD dabei; die können grundsätzlich auch mal hochdrehen. Ob man die HDD speziell bei iMacs hört, weiß ich leider nicht.

Wird er denn warm? CPU/GPU sollten i. d. R. keine Probleme mit Facebook haben ;)
War das auch mal mit Big Sur nicht so? Hast du Antiviren/Bereinigungssoftware/Cloud-Clients installiert?

Hi.

Um welchen Mac handelt es sich? Sicher das es der Lüfter ist den man hört und nicht die HDD des FD?

Wenn es der Lüfter ist liegt es an den Temperaturen im Mac. Diese werden durch Außentemperaturen und Last an den Bauteilen erzeugt.
Welche Last wird erzeugt? Schau das mal nach. Wo entstehen die Temperaturen? Schau das mal nach.

Da wirst Du das Problem haben. Wirf das Antivirus-Zeugs mal runter. Wirf vorher mal einen Blick in die Aktivitätsanzeige und schau, welche Apps die CPU auslasten.

Nicht ganz das Thema, aber ich empfehle dringend Time Machine-Backup ;)

Die Antivirensoftware ist schon länger drauf, da lief der Lüfter auch nicht hoch. Ist ausserdem nur eines, das andere ist Malwarebytes.

Time Machine Backup geht seit Catalina nicht mehr - hab ich hier schon mehrfach erklärt.

Bei der Auslastung fällt vor allem FB auf - aber das läuft doch auch schon seit Jahren ohne das der Lüfter so laut wird. Könnte es sein, das die Fusion Drive HDD eventuell ihren Geist aufgibt? Wie macht sich sowas bemerkbar?
 
So ein Antivirenmüll gehört runter, egal ob das das Problem ist.
Die HDD kann sicherlich den Geist aufgeben. Sie ist ohnehin unzeitgemäß. Das dreht aber auch den Lüfter nicht hoch.
Schau halt in der Aktivitätsanzeige welcher Prozess die Last erzeugt.

Vielleicht zu naheliegend ... könnte es sein, dass die Lüfter einfach aufgrund der Temperaturen hochdrehen?
 
... oder die Lüfter sind sehr verstaubt bzw. das Innenleben generell?

Ist der Mac seit dem 10. Juni, 24. Juni oder 25. Juni langsam? Falls du den Tag weißt, könnte es unmittelbar mit einer der letzten Installationen zusammenhängen.

Zumindest 8x hat Telegram den Mac ordentlich ausgelastet und dadurch indirekt ggf. andere Apps wie den Browser gebremst.

Fazit. Würde die oben zitierten 3 Apps löschen, samt aller Plugins etc. Nach dem Ausschlussprinzip könnte man dann die Apps ggf. wieder installieren.

Die HDD ist nicht mehr zeitgemäß, lahm und kann außerdem durchaus laut sein. Besser durch SSDD tauschen!

AdGuard hab ich drauf, weil ich sonst bei FB die ganze nervige Werbung sehe. Das blendet das aus - ebenso der AdBlocker.

Die Temperaturen sind ja zur Zeit unter 20°c hier, daher kann es daran an sich nicht liegen. Gerade hier im Raum ist es zur Zeit eher kühl.

Verstaubt? - glaube ich eher nicht. Der iMac steht hier schon immer auf dem Schreibtisch und wird wöchentlich zumindest äusserlich entstaubt und gesäubert. Jetzt im Moment habe ich nur diese Seite offen und Mail. Man hört den Lüfter überhaupt nicht. Es scheint also doch an Facebook und Telegram zu liegen. Das einzige, was ich nicht verstehe ist, warum er jetzt aufdreht, obwohl ich die Seiten doch vorher auch alle genutzt habe. Teilweise waren beide Seiten gleichzeitig geöffnet oder noch YouTube.

Das die HDD nicht zeitgemäß ist weiß ich, sehe aber keinen Sinn darin jetzt da noch eine SSD einbauen zu lassen, zumal die Platte für meine Zwecke vollkommen ausreichend ist. Der iMac ist Late17. Dann eher diesen noch dieses Jahr nutzen und dann vielleicht einen neuen mit SSD kaufen. Inzwischen sind ja sogar die grossen Platten günstiger.

Werde weiterhin die Aktivitätsanzeige und das Lüfterverhalten beobachten.

Kann ja sein, dass du keine SSD brauchen würdest.Aber wie gesagt, eine HDD kann auch mal Krach machen ;)
 
Verstauben (innen) geht immer, ohne geht gar nicht.
Eine SSD kann man auch extern anschließen und komplett davon arbeiten. Günstig, sehr bzw. sau schnell (USB-C mit 3.2 Gen2 oder TB3)
Ein iMac von 2017 ist ja noch in den besten Jahren. Aufrüsten lohnt da oft.

Das eigentliche Problem liegt an einer neuen Auslastung die da ist oder nicht so sein sollte.

Dass Facebook viele Daten sammelt ist, ja nicht neu, aber dass die jetzt so viel sammeln, dass ein iMac fast in die Knie geht und der Lüfter zum Haartrockner wird, ist mir neu :D
