Mac extrem langsam nach Update auf High Sierra

seit dem Update auf High Sierra läuft mein iMac extrem langsam. Kann mir jemand weiterhelfen?

Selbst wenn sie nicht aufgibt: Eine HDD ist nicht mehr das gelbe vom Ei. Moderne Systeme wie High Sierra sind für SSDs gemacht.

Könnte es auch am RAM liegen? Im EtreCheck Report heißt es ganz unten unter "Virtual Memory Information":
Free RAM 19MB und Cached files 2,35 GB.

Die Info dazu spukt Folgendes aus:
"Detailed information about your virtual memory behaviour. The most significant value here is Cached. If this value is a significant portion of your available RAM, your computer may run more slowly."

von den SMART-Werten ....
1 RAW Read Error Rate / 11 Calibration Retry Count / 191 G-Sense Error Rate / 254 Free Fall Sensor .... liegen alle im unteren Bereich
.... nur bei 200 Multizone Error Rate und 225 Load Cycle Count sind mir die Werte viel zu hoch

.... in Anbetracht dessen würde ich mir schon überlegen, die Platte auszutauschen.
Je nach benötigter Größe würde ich u.U. schon eine SSD einbauen

defekter RAM kann so einiges an Blödsinn machen, ohne dass man drauf kommt, dass es der RAM ist

Defekter RAM macht den Rechner nicht langsam. Defekter RAM führt zu Speicherzugriffsfehlern bzw. Dateninkonsistenz und somit harten Abstürzen.

Die entscheidende Frage wurde hier noch gar nicht gestellt. Laut Beschreibung ist der Rechner seit dem Update auf High Sierra langsam geworden - aber was war denn vorher installiert? Einen Hardwaredefekt würde ich aufgrund der Fehlerbeschreibung nämlich ausschließen.

Warscheinlich macht sich gerade Spotlight erneut die Füsse blutig um den ganzen neuen Krempel frisch zu indizieren.
Das kann bei einer älteren - vermutlich ziemlich vollen - Festplatte auch Tage dauern..
