Weiß jemand, wie die Bilder in iPhoto gedreht werden? Ob verlustfrei per jpg-Rotation oder irgendwie resampled?

I would like to add that Apple's method of not altering the original data is preferable to resaving the image in a new orientation. Repeated application of the JPEG algorithm will degrade an image, so Apple's method preserves quality by not compounding unnecessary saves. The JPEG algorithm is also orientation sensitive: It breaks up the image into 8x8 pixel cells, and each cell's data originates from a key cell, located in the upper left hand corner of the cell. This particular pixel is very important in JPEG's ability to discard data for compression. Without getting into the fascinating complexities of the JPEG algorithm, rotating an image and saving it as a JPEG makes the algorithm key one of the least accurate pixels in the cell (corner pixels other than the upper left are the most changed from their original data).

While rotating an image or resaving it as a JPEG does not destroy an image's quality, Apple wisely chose not to repeatedly use unnecessary applications of the JPEG algorithm to preserve quality.

So ist es. Wobei der gemeine Englischsprachler auch mal gerne das Wort mit Y versucht. Das gibt aber regelmaessig Schlaege auf den Hinterkopf (was ja -wie wir wissen- das Denkvermoegen foerdert).

Liegt eigentlich auch nahe, dass das als „Wortspielerei” benutzt wird.
