iMac Pro langsam, Beachball, gelber Bildschirm

Hallo und frohe Ostern,

die Seltsamkeiten nehmen kein Ende, meine Hoffnung, dass es unter Big Sur besser würde, haben sich leider schnell zerschlagen.

Hauptsächlich ist der iMac immer wieder zu langsam. Z.B. trödelt die Findersuche immer wieder oder Pages braucht ziemlich lange zum Öffnen. Der iMac scheint sich auch bei simplen Aufgaben abzumühen und zu oft sehe ich den Beachball.

Etrecheck vermeldet meiner Erinnerung nach erstmals dies:

- Heavy RAM usage - Apps are using a large amount of RAM.
- Low performance - EtreCheck report took an unusually long time to run.

Wie kann das sein bei diesem "Testosteron-Rechner"? Und was muss ich machen, damit der Trödelrechner in die Gänge kommt? Er müsste doch damit klarkommen, dass ich immer viele Fenster/Apps geöffnet habe (Mail, Chrome auf einem der Monitore, Firefox mit zwei Fenstern (eines davon auf dem anderen Monitor), mehrere Finder-Fenster (weil ich oft Dateien in andere Ordner verschiebe), WhatsApp Desktop und mehrere Word-Dokumente.

Heute morgen hat der Startvorhang unfassbar lange gedauert, dann ist der Balken auf der Hälfte hängen geblieben und dann kam ein gelber Bildschirm. Einen Konflikt mit den beiden Monitoren vermutend habe ich die Kabel der beiden entfernt und der Neustart hat danach geklappt.

Woran kann der gelbe Bildschirm gelegen haben? Bisher kannte ich nur blaue Bildschirme und zwar von Windows.

Die automatischen Updates habe ich inzwischen aktiviert.

Also dein Rechner sollte bei den beschriebenen Aufgaben nicht so ins Stocken geraten. Ich vermute einen defekt an einer "Festplatte". Teste beide (intern und extern) mal.
Und im Bericht beim I/O Speed mit nur 0,16 MB/s ist auch irgendwas nicht in Ordnung.

Für einen Defekt der SSD dürfte wohl sprechen, dass Etrecheck das kurz zuvor erstellte Timemachine-Backup nicht erkannt/angezeigt hat. Aber es ist auf der SSD, habe gerade nachgeschaut. Seltsam... Mal sehen was jetzt ohne die SSD passieren wird.

Das automatische macOS-Update habe ich wieder deaktiviert, denn ich möchte nicht plötzlich Monterey auf dem Rechner haben, weil ich vielleicht abends mal vergesse, den iMac runterzufahren.

Nun habe ich - ohne angeschlossenen SSD - seit Tagen keinen Beachball mehr gesehen. Somit ist das Speichermedium tatsächlich der Übeltäter für die Langsamkeit des iMacs gewesen.

Und im Bericht beim I/O Speed mit nur 0,16 MB/s ist auch irgendwas nicht in Ordnung.

Leider habe ich dazu keine erhellenden Informationen gefunden (und vermutlich falsch gesucht). Was hat das zu bedeuten und wie kann ich Abhilfe schaffen?

Eine der Seltsamkeiten ist vorhin wieder aufgetreten und das passiert des Öfteren, nachdem ich einen interessanten im Internet gefundenen Bericht als pdf-Datei abgespeichert habe. Wenn ich eine dieser Dateien öffne, erscheint sie hin und wieder ohne Schrift oder nur teilweise mit Schrift. Nach dem Schließen und erneuten Öffnen ist alles normal. Woran kann dieses seltsame Verhalten liegen?
