fsck -y ... no checkin performed ?

hallo

da mein 15" 1,25 pb mit os x 10.3.2 seit kurzem nach dem ruhezustand einen schwarzen bildschirm aufweist wollte ich nun mittels fsck -y eine festplattenreparatur durführen.

alles funktioniert sio weit bis ich fsck -y eingebe, dann bekomme ich die antwort:
fsck_hfs: volume is journaled. no checking performed
fsck_hfs: ust the -f option to force the cheking.

das habe ich dann auch gemacht
resultat: the volume macintosh hd appears to be ok

was bedeutet das aber bei fsck -y ?
warum sagt er mir nicht das etwas repariert wurde oder gar alles ok ist ?

Hallo,

die Meldung besagt, dass du ein Journaled Volume (seit Mac OS X Server 10.2.2 und nicht-Server-Version Mac OS X 10.3 Panther) hast und deshalb mit -f anstatt -y weiter verfahren kannst:

With a journaled volume you do not need to start up into single user mode. When a volume is made available to the file system, the journal is replayed and the file system brought up to a consistent state. If you do run fsck, it is best if you use -n and -f flags so that it will not actually modify the volume. Options explanation from fsck man page:

-n Assume a no response to all questions asked by fsck except for 'CONTINUE?', which is assumed to be affirmative; do not open the file system for writing.

-f Force the check.

Mit fsck "repapriert" man keine Festplatten. Mal am Rande angemerkt.
"-y" bejaht alle Fragen die aufkommen könnten, wenn Blocks falsch belegt sind, und/oder ein Superblock quer hängt.
Da es sich aber um ein JFS handelt, sollte ein fsck überhaupt nicht mehr nötig sein, und wenn doch, dann hat das JFS einen Hau.
