2 Anfängerfragen

ich hoffe ihr lacht mich nicht aus....
ich habe mir für meinen imac 350mhz einen 256MB arbeitsspeicher
bestellt. ( derzeit 64) wenn ich den montiere, bleibt der alte drin oder fliegt der raus?
2. frage: mein finder spinnt wohl etwas ( ab+zu fehler 10 ) kann man dem auch irgendwie mehr speicher zuweisen? oder bringt das nix?
ich habe mac OS9.....
vielleicht noch ne frage- hat jemand nen link zu einem passenden mozilla-browser der mit meinem system läuft?
ich benutze derzeit netscape 4.7. inetrnetexplorer 5.1.7 und ab+zu den icab.
netscape 7 ist vieeel zu langsam, mag sein dass er mit dem neuen speicher besser funzt.

mozilla os9

ziemlich weit unten. mozilla 1.2.1 ist die letzte version, die auf os9 läuft.
ziemlich gut, finde ich.

1. der alte RAM bleibt drinnen. der imac hat 2 slots.
2. wenn du mehr RAM hast, nimmt der finder mehr für sich, zuweisen kannst du das nach meinem wissen nicht
3. es gibt mozilla für OS9

Es gibt die Möglichkeit, dem Finder mehr RAM zuzuweisen.
Aber ich weiss nicht mehr genau wie (mann ist das lange her )

Ach ja, Mit ResEdit konte man da was fummeln.
Hat sogar teilweise echt was gebracht, bild ich mir ein.

Finder Memory Fix

This fix is not supported by Apple. It has been reported to help on the Mac-L list. I am unaware of any complications using this fix. As always use with caution. Make a backup.

1. Copy your Finder (in System Folder) to the Desktop.

2. Launch FileBuddy; Open the Finder on the Desktop with the utility.

3. Change its file type from FNDR to APPL. Once changed, you will be able
to Get Info with access to Memory. Change the RAM allocation to something
in the 3000k range. Probably wise to increase the Minimum setting to around
1500k (I always use multiples of 512 - therefore, my settings became 3072
and 1536 respectively).

4. Now change the file type back to FNDR.

5. Remove Finder from your System Folder. Stick it somewhere safe in the event something happens that requires you to abort this whole procedure and revert to nominal status.

6. Place the altered Finder in your System Folder and Restart
