Mac OS X Snow Leopard Snow Leopard rauf auf Mac trotz Lion?

Hallo,
ich habe mir zum Glück damals Snow Leopard gekauft (mein Mac lief auf Leopard), besitze also die Originalversion.
Nun wollte ich fragen, was ich denn alles brauche zum installieren von Snow Leopard...und ob ich eine clean install brauche.

nur aus Interesse: das funktioniert? Könnte ich also einen neuen Mac, der mit Lion geliefert wird, auf Snow Leopard downgraden?

achso, also geht es doch nicht, hatte das nämlich vorhin so verstanden. Wenn ich z. B. in einem halben Jahr einen neuen Mac kaufen würde, der ja dann mit Lion ausgeliefert wird, diesen könnte ich nicht downgraden auf Snow Leopard, oder? Hätte mich jetzt auch gewundert.

Hierzu habe ich folgenden Beitrag in einem US-Amerikanischen Videoblog gelesen:

I think you video will work with old imac's but the i7 I bought a couple of weeks ago with Lion installed was a bit tricky to get SL to work. I decided to make a small partition then I could play around with lion and when all my software is updated use. When I first tried to install off the SL disk the machine would kernel panic and wouldn't boot. I then tried to install from my laptop to the imac in target disk mode same problem. What I forgot to do was run the software update after my install after doing this the machine will boot in SL or lion. It now works, I did have an issue after migrating leopard to SL and the imac would't boot all the way. I would get to the desktop screen and get the spinning wheel of death. I did another install and so far so good. No issues migration assistance Leopard to Lion.

Hier aber auch noch ein interessanter Beitrag:

Far as I can tell...the very latest MacBook Pro's are capable of booting OS version 10.6.6. Thus in order to install Snow Leopard (OS 10.6) you need to find/purchase a Snow Leopard install disk that is version 10.6.6 or newer (the latest version of Snow Leopard is 10.6.8).

FYI...Snow Leopard install disks were/are available starting with version 10.6.0...and possibly 1-2 other versions in between 10.6.0 and 10.6.6. If you try to install Snow Leopard (10.6) with an install disk older than 10.6.6...your MacBook Pro may just "spit" the disk back out...or refuse to do the install.

So long story short...if you wish to downgrade your OS from Lion...you need a Snow Leopard install disk that is version 10.6.6 or newer.

Und da liegt oft der Hase im Pfeffer: ältere MacOS X Versionen enthalten oft nicht die erforderlichen Treiber für die installierte Hardware. Ging mir mit einer verbauten NVIDIA Graka in einem verkauften MacPro auch schon so: die ursprünglich im Lieferumfang enthaltene Boot CD wollte die später verbaute Graka nicht erkennen und ich musste vor dem Verkauf eine ältere Graka einbauen.
