Hallo !

Habe lange Erfahrungen mit dem Betrieb und der Administration von Postfix und Dovecot. Seit kurzem ist auch ein OS X Server 3 bei uns in Betrieb zum allgemeinen Test. Insgesamt läuft der E-Mail Betrieb mit den aktuellen E-Mail Clients aus OS X 10.9 und iOS 7.0.3 ohne Probleme.

Nun habe ich geprüft, wie die E-Mail Client Software "Thunderbird 24.1.0" mit dem OS X Server 3 via IMAP und SMTP läuft. IMAP läuft ohne Probleme.

Beim Versenden via SMTP bricht Thunderbird jedoch die Session ab mit dem Hinweis, dass die Transferdauer überschritten wurde. Habe diese Verlängert auf 10 Minuten ... aber daran liegt es offenbar nicht. Die SMTP Session stoppt einfach: bei einem E-Mail Anhang von 8MB werden 8% übertragen - dann ist Schluss.

Parallel kann ich aber via Mail.app die E-Mail problemlos rausschicken! (gleiches Konto, gleicher Standort, gleiche Hardware-Firewall, gleiche Ports ...)
Habe sogar auch noch ein aktuelles Outlook 2010 konfiguriert - läuft auch 1A durch ...

Habe die Parameter verglichen. Alle Einstellungen sind gleich. Es ist ein öffentlich beglaubigtes Zertifikat vorhanden, das Passwort wird betätigt, aber beim "postfix/cleanup" ist beim Thunderbird Schluss, bei Mail.app geht's weiter und die Mail wird zugestellt.

Wer hat hierzu Erfahrungen oder eine Idee. Kann es sein, dass Thunderbird einen Bug hat oder übersehe ich eine Konfig-Datei zu Postfix, die irgendwelche "E-Mail Client Spezialitäten" bereit hält?
 
Hab keine Ahnung von postfix, nutze selbst qmail. Wenn die postfix log nichts bringt, wobei der server bei mir (qmail) IdR recht gute Infos liefert (besser als Client), hast du mal thunderbird mit logging gestartet?

... ich kann in den Logdaten keinen Grund erkennen.

Weil es mit Mail.app und Outlook 2010 (vom selben Host aus) einfach so durchläuft, würde ich auch erstmal alle anderen Fehlerquellen ausschliessen.

Noch jemand eine Idee ?
